Tape Delay by Charles Neal
Although ten years old, Tape Delay by Charles Neal remains one of the most
complete books on the formative years of Industrial Music. Included within the
256 page soft cover book are articles, photographs, artwork, poetry, lyrics,
and political propaganda from a myriad of people that made up the Industrial
genre. This includes such personas as Jim Thirlwell, Nick Cave, Michael Gira,
Diamanda Galas, Lydia Lunch, Boyd Rice, Genesis P-Orridge, Mark Stewart, David
Tibet and Henry Rollins. Also included are in depth expose's and interviews with
bands such as Coil, Einstruzende Neubauten, Cabaret Voltaire, Swans, Test
Dept., Laibach, and The Halfer Trio. Although many of the articles contain
information about future projects and releases that never have seen the light
of day, they are still a very informative look into the minds of those people
responsible for the groundwork of the modern post-Industrial era. A definite
must have for anyone with a serious interest in the true roots of Industrial
music.
