2600: Issue 52
2600 is a color cover, black & white, half sized, quarterly hacker publication.
Generally speaking I harbor a great deal of malice towards hackers and their
ilk because of the problems they have caused me in my occupation. However, it's
nice to know that they too recklessly sell "How To" manuals just like other
professional organizations so I know what holes to plug in my computer systems.
As a full time network and system administrator, I spend more than my fair time
dealing with security issues that these wily youngster feel necessary to
exploit. So, when they bother to print articles on how to snoop Ethernet, or IP
spoof, I make sure to read up on the holes used and block them off at my
earliest possible convenience. Besides all cracking information, there are
letters from faithful readers, opinion columns on the stupidity of commercial
online service providers, book reviews, and a classified section. Both
interested computer enthusiasts and security professionals, such as myself,
should take a look through this magazine on a regular basis to keep up to date
on what the current hole of the month is and how to both exploit and and fix it.
