Zoar is a band not content with following other artists. Instead they strike
out into the musical wilderness to find their own path. On their debut release
"Cassandra" we find this four piece New York act fusing Classical, Gothic and
Ethnic music elements into something new. Mellow is the one word to best
describe this album. Whether the band samples chanting monks, utilizes spoken
word vocals, samples weather occurrences or just coaxes a few melodic notes out
of a cello, the disposition of the music is relaxed. Deeply textured
instrumentation and deftly crafted sampling breathe rich life into this album.
The closest comparison I can make to Zoar is the early work of Delerium. Even
this analogy is ultimately flawed, but it at least allows some insight into the
musical realm of Zoar.
Zoar is: Michael Montes, Peter Rundquist, Erik Friedlander & Chuck Lovejoy
