Trial of Bow is one of a handful of acts who have begun to incorporate ethnic
percussion along side more Western instrumentation. The duo from Australia
incorporate such disparate instruments as the e-bow, the hammered dulcimer
right next to a guitar and bass. The end result is very modern musical outlook
on some very ancient musical instruments. Musically the album ranges from very
upbeat percussive pieces that could be right at home on the streets of any
middle eastern nation, to slow drawling ambient compositions that could be
considered as dwelling within the realm of true classical music. The overall
mood of the music is very vibrant and fresh with just a dash over the overused
'world music' genre to make it appeal to that type of audience. Overall a very
eclectic collection of tracks which allow the listener to escape, if only for a
moment, back to the dawn of civilization, while still retaining strong tie to
the present.
