Finally after three albums, Bill Leeb & Rhys Fulber have admitted that
Synaesthesia really is their project and that the elusive R. Deckard is none
other than Chris Peterson. Of course, most people already knew this but it is
nice that they finally owned up to the fact. Musically, "Ephemeral" picks up
right where the last album "Desideratum" left off. As you would expect the
album consists of several long tracks in the the same vein as pre "Semantic
Spaces" Delerium. Sampled ethnic percussion and ambient keyboard pieces are
mixed into various upbeat tribal sections as well as as a few more lulling
soundscapes. On 'Intelligence Dream', ultra low bass tones are even played with
that they RUMble the room when the track is played on a good stereo system.
Overall a very solid release which fans of previous material and older Delerium
will enjoy.
