Once again Bill Leeb & Rhys Fulber try and convince their listening audience
that they are not directly involved with the band and only produce and sonicly
manipulate the album for the ever so elusive Rick Deckard. However, I've
received it upon good authority from Cleopatra Records themselves that
Synaesthesia is indeed the newest side project of the duo who perhaps are known
better under the moniker of Front Line Assembly. This two CD release could
easily have been titled under the duo's ambient project Delerium and it has yet
to be seen why these choose to create another side project for themselves. I
suppose existing in part under four other continually evolving musical projects
hasn't stifled their creativity any, so why should adding another band to the
list create any more work for them that they already haven't created for
themselves. Unlike most of the duo's recent releases 'Desideratum' remains
constant in it's musical direction from the previous album 'Embody'. The robust
ambient alien landscapes continue to evolve under the same array of white
dwarves, quasars, accretion disks and other stellar phenomena. Leeb and Fulber
have once again proved that they are the hardest working industrial
conglomerate in the business with the release of over ten separate CD's in 1995
alone with only a mild sacrifice of quality for quantity.
