A face level Subculuture is light hearted mopey synth-pop band which seems to
have jumped off the theme songs for Generation X television programs like Party
of Five. However buried in message behind the vocals are much more serious
issues other than what shade of hair coloring to use for prom. Industrial this
music is not yet a number of harsh and rigid drum lines more commonly used in
aggressive electro are used in many of the tracks. My one complaint on this
tape is that while the vocalists are nothing short of superb they overpower the
music so much you have to actually ignore the lyrics just to get an solid grasp
on the music. Overall the music is just a little to perky and depressive at the
same time for my tastes. It tends to contain elevated levels of sacchrine laced
with even more Nutrasweet.
Subculture is:
Dono - vocals
Heather Di Paola - vocals
Christopher Libertino - guitar
Brett Lewis - keyboards, programming
Daniel - keyboards
