Seven Trees : Embracing the Unknown
- Submission
- Stale
- Tearstained
- Overload
- Velvet Dream
- Going Down
- The Unknown
- To Live is Regret
- Desire Slowly Burning
This Swedish band introduces a very exciting release which demonstrates a moody
and dark atmosphere (often sad and almost Gothic at times), while incorporating
some very strong orchestral implementation throughout; this makes for a very
rewarding and original listening experience. They also bring a very human
feeling to the album; chances are you are going to be emotionally drained after
listening to this release. On the track 'Desire Slowly Burning', the band is
very adept at including guitar without ruining the song, and they also showcase
the use of a strong harsh female vocalist, who sounds similar to Katrin of
Coptic Rain. Some songs have a strong emotional, yet minimalistic quality like
the track 'Going Down', while others are very beat-laden and club-friendly like
the track 'Submission'; they even venture into more of an obscure, soundscape
vein with the track 'The Unknown'. The lyrics are another strong part of this
release; they actually make you think and their content provides a wide view of
the emotional spectrum of life, not just your basic "fuck you world, we're
angry" theme we hear from so many other bands.
