Noise Level 9: Beta 2.0.2
- You Never No
- Cubic Boron Injection
- Prepare For
- Papa 10 Boom
After my lackluster opinion of the NL9's previous demo, I was a little hesitant
about the arrival of a something new. As it turns out this demo was especially
prepared for me in order to garner an opinion on four other songs not yet
available for public consumption. It appears that my overtly critical review
actually had a positive effect. The sheer volume of distinctly obvious changes
in the music was almost a kick in the face compared to previous work. Suddenly
present were vocals catchy enough that I was singing along to them, wickedly
succinct samples which fit the tone of the music perfectly, and the sudden
absence of the guitars washing out everything else in the mix. Also included
was a short experimental piece which served as a ligature that bound two tracks
together. Even though I knew I was indeed listening to the same band, it was a
difference between night and day. Now if I could only figure out what "Papa 10
Boom" stood for?
