The subversive underground award of the month goes out to Mindless Faith whose
band name brings out a chuckle every time I think about it. Mindless Faith have
an peculiar mixture of pop and electro influences which seem to range from some
of the more danceable Jesus Jones, the sound fabrication of Noxious Emotion and
the subtle vocal tonality of (insert cringe here) Trent Reznor. For all the
crap I may have given Trent in the past I do enjoy the sound and texture of his
voice which he seems to share with J-sin of Mindless Faith. In fact the more
that I think about it the more I can find the analogous comparison to 'Pretty
Hate Machine' in the sheer amount of musical diversity found within one tiny
package. This should be taken within a grain of salt however as much as 'Pretty
Hate Machine' might have dragged me kicking and screaming into the electronic
music genre,'The Silence' has kept me enraptured for many more hours of
listening pleasure. Mindless Faith are one of those bands who always seem to
creep up behind me with a blackjack and knock a little sense into my thick
skull with their inventiveness and ingenuity and leave me a more well rounded
person musically.
Mindless Faith is:
J-sin - sound design
Chris Sevanick - sound manipulation
