Surprise, surprise, the title of the new Main album is "Firmament IV". Robert
Hampton has become predictable as of late. This time around he composes a dozen
relatively short Ambient tracks. He works with inaudible bass tones that
suddenly exponentially explode in decibels. A few of the tracks break down into
what passes for a rhythm, even if the cadence come from thick pitchshifting
bass in the midst of a Doppler effect. Main's quality and strength of
composition is still Ambient artists wet dream We just think we know what to
expect from Main. Robert Hampton instead treats this assumptions as
justification to continually surprise us.
