Gridlock: Frozen

Gridlock return with their second self released cassette arriving much where they left off on their musical debut. Intricately woven ambient textures interspersed with the occasional vocal intonations drift across the hazy musical plain. Each tracks is subtlely mixed into the next with only the passing lull to mark the transition between compositions. Chided by many for being to mellow, Gridlock still remain steadfast in creating music meant more for the individual home audience than for the club atmosphere. Having much in common with the darkwave movement of music made popular by the likes of such European labels as Cold Meat Industry and Staalplat, Gridlock build their music upon complex ambient foundations. Surprisingly enough this music also appears to come off well live as they have performed some of this material at least once for an external audience with reasonably positive results. It appears at least in this case, an American band has the capability previously only relegated to European musicians of evoking a deeply disturbing mood by means of music alone.
