I hesitate to call this album industrial with the subtle exception that the
second half of the release degrades into a noise frenzy rivaled only by the
likes of Merzbow. The lyrics vary from totally cheesy to corny pop tunes and
seem to share more in common with commercial rock than anything underground.
The first half of the album is probably best to skip if you have little
patience for tacky guitar accentuated synth pop as the second side is where all
the action is anyways. Ignoring the lyrics and diving into the later half of
the album is where one can find some of the more unique musical explorations by
what might normally be a pop band. It seems that there is just enough deviance
contained within Fallen Hero to save the album before it becomes to late. In
any event, "Shadow Killer" isn't anything one would write home to mother about
and is only notable for the novelty value of a alternative band going mildly
retro if only for a moment.
