The Negativland tribute album (of sorts anyways). As Mark G. put it at the
ECC show in January, "Everything on this tape is stolen from somewhere."
This cassette has everything from cut ups samples from the George Bush
speech announcing the invasion of Iraq, Public Enemy lyrics with a Jazz
band backing, murdered children's stories, and the last track on the tape
being a four minute continuous loop of the opening keyboard sequence from U2's
_Where The Streets Have No Name_ with a few liberties added of course.
If you enjoy Negativland & Burroughsian tape cutups with slight
background sequencing, you'll enjoy this tape. Clocking in at around 35
minutes, this tape is just the right length to keep up the amusement
without becoming boring and pedantic. Pick it up, or at least e-mail Mark
and annoy him about throwing his landlord out the window.
