Apart from the preoccupation with string patches and the Claus Larsen style
vocal effects, this debut album by Controlled Fusion isn't that bad. Ignoring
the obvious Leaetherstrip comparisons and going for the heart of the music one
can sense the artist struggling for his own personal style. One thing he has an
excellent grasp of, is the ability to write a beginning and ending of a track.
It seems many artists are made or lost simply by their ability to properly end
and close a track and Steffen Schurke has finely honed that skill better than
any debut artist I've heard. However he does need to work a bit on
distinguishing one track from the next as many of the tracks on this album
sound too similar to one another. Given time and the skill set he has already
acquire, I feel confident that his musical abilities will grow and find a
niche.
