Blue is an eclectic electronic band that walks across a wide variety of musical
styles, yet still manages to remain cohesive enough to avoid alienating its
listenership with its diverse electronic background. As with Chemlab, Blue
breaks up its music with short soundbits between longer tracks. As a
result, in the first half of the album, the odd numbered tracks are more
upbeat and percussive, and the even numbered tracks are more ambient and
layered. Just after the midpoint of the album, the tracks migrate to a moderate
length and sort of munge together the Dub and Ambient styles into a homogeneous
mix. The music is calculatingly minimal, with a slow meter, just perfect for
home listening. Stylistically, Blue fits well into the intelligent dance music
genre, mostly because they hybridize a myriad of styles without resorting to
mindless repetition.
