Fifth Column Records finally graces us with it's first compilation effort since the labels inception and the end result is phenomenal. With the cover artwork put together by Rotor, the internet contest which came up with the name for the compilation to the secret Chemlab suture giving the listener a teaser for the new album this compilation can be nothing short of a media blitz success. We get a chance to experience the wide variety of musical talent on the label from the coldwave Acumen, the ear grating noise of To Live & Shave in L.A., the piano work of Jim Marcus on Oxygiene 23, the unreleased soundtrack to Johnny Mnemonic by Black Rain and the electro voodoo madness of Rodney Orpheus of Sungod. This compilation covers such a wide variety of talent and genre that it should be able to appeal to just about everyone. If Forced Cranial Removal doesn't place Fifth Column as one of the forefront of U.S. independent music labels than nothing else can.
