Indiana based Blacklight Records offers up sixteen artists for their second
compilation "Collapsing Structures". Blacklight's collection contains mostly
unknown artists who share a common moral and ethical bond and releases their
music in well designed, produced and implemented packages. Bands to watch out
for include Dendrography with its curious interpretation of the Hindu goddess
Shiva, Torn Skin with their authoritative sampling and rolling bass rhythms,
and Fatal Blast Whip whose 'Forbidden' is one of the best uses of reverb,
pitchshifting and distortion I've heard from a slow tempo track in quite some
time. If you haven't had a chance to check out Blacklight Records or its
artists yet, this compilation is an excellent sampler of their current roster
as well as a few other independent acts.
